我們常使用be afraid / scared / frightened of something表示自己害怕某事:

我們可以說frighten or scare(害怕)某事,也可以frightened by or scared by something(被某些事情嚇到或感到害怕)。
I am too scared / frightened to stay alone in this house.
They were scared by the explosion.(BUT NOT They were afraid by the explosion.)

如果今天要表達的是a greater degree of fear or anxiety(超恐怖的、超害怕的)恐怖中著恐怖,terrified/terrifying就會比較適合。
I’m terrified of the dark.
It’s the most terrifying movie of all time.
People with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations.
Let’s move out into the sun – I’m getting goose bumps.
